This is a snake skin, approximately 3 feet long, and it’s hanging on one of the trees next to my house. When I was a kid, I spent many summers at my grandmother’s house in Huffman, TX. It was surrounded by green pastures and she would often find an errant snake here and there. On more than one occasion she found a snake skin like this one in her attic.
By far the most disturbing instance though was when my step mother found a baby copperhead in a pillowcase as she changed the sheets of her bed. My dad released it unharmed into the field across the street. Somehow we made it through those days without ever getting bit.
