This ornament was the favorite of my brother and mine growing up. It has remained the most celebrated of all Christmas decorations in our house (followed by the singing Sugar Bear ornament we got out of a cereal box in 1988 - it still works!). But in 2005, during the great exodus of Hurricane Rita, it was among the beloved family objects whisked off to safety. It was subsequently misplaced but not forgotten. Well this year my mom found it and Santa’s Bank hangs in the most prominent position on our tree, doling out loans for presents to all the wooden children who apply.
